Eridan looked at her in a state of shock until he said, "I'm sorry to hear that, Jade. I truly am." He changed the subject by asking, "Are there any attractions on this island? Anything memorable?"

"There's a volcano and some ruins!" Jade chirped, her eyes lighting up. "But Bec won't let me go into the ruins"

'So that beast is her lusus.' "Wwell how about the volcano?" he asked politely, smiling.

"He won't let me go all the way to the top, but I can go pretty far up" Jade smiled. "Do you want to see it?"

"It wwould be a nice change of scenery." he answered, "Howw about you lead?" he asked

Jade grinned and grabbed his hand, tugging him towards the dense foliage. "Its so neat! There are even some hot springs! but they're too sulfuric to bathe in farther up, but the lower ones are good for human skin!"

Eridan walked behind her, arm stretched out in front of him. He heard the excitement in her voice, and answered her by saying "Cool, I'vve nevver really been up the volcano before, I'vve only walked along the beaches."

"There are such pretty flowers growing by the springs too!" Jade stopped and looked at him. "Oh, can you be this far from the water?" she asked in concern. "don't seatrolls need water?"

Eridan licked his lips quickly before saying, "It's only wwhen wwe don't return to a source of wwater for days, that being out of wwater kills us." He smiled reassuringly, "You wwanted to showw me those flowers?"

Jade smiled. "okay!" she chirped before eagerly pulling him along again.

Bec followed a few paces behind them, watching Eridan closely.

Eridan felt the eyes of the lusus watch his every move as he was dragged along the path by Jade. 'Remind me to never get on her bad side.'he thought nervously, 'Just look at the way her lusus is eyeing me up like a good dinner.' he added

Jade continued to babble incessantly as she led Eridan along, grinning now that she finally had someone to listen to her and sometimes talk back. It was just an amazing feeling, not being alone.

Eridan listened to her babble about every topic ranging from the fauna to various other topics that he only half-listened to. It was nice hearing another intelligent voice, it was even nicer how there wasn't really any part in the conversation that he had to play.

Jade let go of his hand when the ground started to slope. "We'll have to climb some parts!" she grinned at him.

"Alright, let's climb then." he answered, smiling at her reassuringly.

Jade's grin widened and she started up the slope, occasionally having to use her hands when the slope got steeper.

Eridan followed Jade, mimicking her movements as she made her way up the volcano. He watched her as she moved nimbly, almost like a mountain goat. The lusus climbed alongside his charge, keeping an on Eridan.

Jade finally got to a large ledge and pulled herself up. She reached a hand down to help Eridan. "There's a bunch here on this ledge" she grinned.

Eridan grabbed onto Jade's hand, he let her help him up to the ledge, when he got there; he saw a bunch of strange flowers in vibrant colours he had never seen on Alterna. "Wwow, wwhat are they called?" he asked, entranced by the beauty.

"I'm not sure" Jade admitted. "I haven't been able to find anything like them online or anything. I think they might be one of a kind"

Eridan went to kneel down by the strange flowers, he touched the petals and leaves gently. Looking up he asked, "Do you wwanna name them?"

Jade shook her head. "They're pretty without one, why add something to confuse them?" she smiled

Eridan answered Jade by saying, "A lot of things seem ruined wwhen you name 'em." he stood up, "Anythin' else you wwanna show me?"

Jade looked thoughtful. "You wanna see the hotsprings?" she asked

"That wwould be nice." he answered
