Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat swallowed loudly and shook his head. He definitely wasn't ready for that. Not at all. He didn't know if he ever would be ready for it. He shifted so he could wrap his arms around Dave and hide his face in his chest with a whimper.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave wrapped an arm around Karkat's back, petting him soothingly and nuzzling the top of his head with his own. "Hey, it's no big deal," he assured him, running his fingers through his hair. If anything, it was a bit of relief that Karkat wasn't ready yet because admittedly, deep down, he wasn't either.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat snuffled loudly, nuzzling Dave's chest. He wanted nothing more than to just stay like this right now. The bucket in the room was still making him nervous, but he trusted Dave, and Dave said he didn't have to worry if he wasn't ready.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave held Karkat for a few minutes, perfectly content with just petting and comforting him, that is, until his stomach gurgled in abandonment between them. A faint smile crept up as he lifted his head and rubbed one of Karkat's shoulders, asking, "Maybe we could continue this some other time after lunch? Or tonight, if you're up to it."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat made a soft noise of protest, holding Dave tighter to him. He didn't want to go out there where Bro was.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave smiled down at Karkat, resting his head on the troll's once again. "Orrrr we could stay in here," he muttered softly because, after all, he wasn't dumb enough to complain about spending more time holding Karkat. "Whatever you want. It's your call."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat nodded, wriggling a little until they were both laying on their sides so Karkat could curl into Dave's chest. He made a little noise of contentment, and softly began purring.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Cuddling it is then," Dave chuckled, wrapping a leg over one of Karkat's and heaving a deep, happy sigh; yes, as sappy as that sounded, he was doing it. Fuck the police. He rested his head on his arm, slipping the other over Karkat's to rub the back of his head. He had never felt so comfortable in his life, not even the time when the Striders took a snooze in Mattress City on the tempur-pedic beds. But that was on a day they were hiding from the landlord, before Bro got a slightly steadier job to make rent a bit more affordable.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat wriggled a little at the constriction to his legs, but got comfortable soon enough. His purring deepened and his body slowly began to relax. It wasn't long before Karkat was on the verge of sleep.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave kissed Karkat's head, his own eyelids beginning to get heavy from the heat of Karkat's body serving better than an electric blanket and a glass of warm milk. He gave a deep yawn that made him shudder, vaguely thinking about how much he was enjoying the feel of Karkat's hair between his fingers. It wasn't even past four o'clock and the sandman was already getting the best of him.

Karkat gave a sleepy little noise before he was off. His body relaxed the rest of the way against the larger, male human as he dreamed.
It was a few minutes longer before there was a light tapping at the door and it swung open to reveal a smirking Bro. "You two gonna eat or what?" he asked

Oh, now he knocks. Dave's eyes squinted at the light from the door and he hovered a hand to cast his vision in shadow, making the view of his brother a little less painful. "I might," he indecisively answered, propping himself up on the elbow he had been resting on, "--if I can get up." He disentangled their legs with some effort, rolling onto his back and sitting up on the edge of the bed, rubbing his eyes with his palms.

"You're not supposed to kill them when you mack on 'em Dave. I thought I taught you that." Bro smirked. "Anyway, I have a gig to go to tonight, and I work all day tomorrow. Make sure he has everything he needs before you go. Do I need to get anything for you guys before my gig?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave shrugged, popping his back before leaning back again to pet the side of Karkat's face. "I think we're all good here. Might have to take him to work with me tomorrow though." There was no way in Hell he was going to leave Karkat home alone again, not after what happened last time.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"He should be fine here. You'll probably be gone before he gets up. You get back around noon right? I think he can handle being alone that long if he's gonna be sleeping. Besides that, he'd have to do his make up while he's half asleep" Bro pointed out.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Yeah, maybe. If he doesn't wake up earlier than that to an empty apartment," Dave muttered, his voice hinting concern as he continued stroking Karkat's head lovingly. Emotions hardly ever slipped through his voice when he was talking to someone, but whatever. Bro was usually dead on the mark on how he was feeling with or without the undertone.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro smirked. "What're you gonna do in three weeks when he has to go home?" he asked, crossing his arms and leaning against the doorway.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave shrugged, glancing back at Bro over his shoulder, never ceasing his petting as he replied, "Hop on a fluffy pink cloud with him and fly around for a bit, maybe smite a chihuahua or two. Then we could kick back and blast 'Always' as we go about our ass-kicking ways with rainbow bullets and lightening rods, you know, the gay Zeus works." Then a bit more seriously, he answered, "Or have a few more dates with him and see how things go."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"You know he can't stay." Bro stated simply "Tav's our designated Troll. The Lalondes even helped him and all the other trolls get their horns surgically removed and their skin tone changed so they could blend in. Karkat didn't get that done cause he was scared to, he's high maintenance and once Tav comes back, there won't be anywhere for him to stay. He's John's troll."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"You say this like it's news to me," Dave groaned, wanting to fling something at Bro for thinking he didn't know this, like he was a partially retarded guy who had just moved in yesterday and had no idea about what was going on. "I get it. We can't afford more than one other troll crashing at our place. But seriously, you don't have to shoot me in the knee right when I'm trying to stand up." Can't I date this dude without you harping on me on all of the obvious consequences I am very well aware of?
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Its not that we can't afford him; Trolls are territorial. The more crowded the area, the fewer trolls that can be there. The Egberts had him, we had Tav, Lalonde had the vamp, weaboo, freak and stoner, and Jade got the rest of 'em because of her island" Bro replied. "If we take in another troll, I have to accept Lalonde's offer of moving either closer to Her, of Egbert."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave looked at Bro weird, sliding off the bed and walking over to his brother, standing in front of him to wave his hand in front of his face as he said, "Earth to Bro, come in Bro? This is your little brother speaking, asking why the fuck are you telling me all of this? We've kinda had Tavros with us for a while now; it's not like I wasn't informed the first day he got here or anything or the days after that."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Yeah, then why do you act like you don't know it?" Bro replied, straightening. "Go eat your food before it spoils."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave rolled his eyes and stepped past Bro, taking a seat on the futon and pulling out the soft tacos he ordered from the bag. They were kind of cold now and their oils had soaked through their wax paper exterior, but it didn't ruin the taste by any large scale when he took a bite. He sighed satisfactorily, satiating the snarling beast that had become his stomach for the last twenty minutes.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro followed him in, sitting heavily next to him. "So what are the two of you going to do tomorrow?" he asked, trying to sound indifferent about it.
