Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
At the speed Karkat's infuriated hands moved, Dave couldn't catch a lick of what he just said. Well, other than 'fuck you'; he was at least familiar enough with that one to recognize it right away. The rest of it, however, was just a blur of incomprehension. Dave kept his place on the bed as he tried to calm the upset troll. "Woah, woah, hey, dude, cool down on the hand play. I was just giving a guy my honest opinion. No need to go into turbo mode." He took his glasses off, looking back at Karkat dead in the eye as he said, "I honestly think you're-" he broke off from saying it, instead signing, 'cute' at the end rather than stating it out loud.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat snorted and crossed his arms, turning his face away stubbornly. He didn't believe a word out of his mouth right now.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Seriously, dude. Just about everything you do is cute. Your chirping, your purring, your hugs-- fuck, even the way you eat your God damn food-- it's border line sinful how darling you are." Dave wasn't even entirely sure why he was going on this tangent of trying to defend his reasoning to call the troll adorable. He stepped off the bed, holding his glasses in one hand as he continued, "But, you know, whatever. If you still want to think I'm just poking fun around with an ironic, steel pink bat, be my guest."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat looked up at him, pouting just a little in his scowl. 'why'
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave shrugged back at him, muttering, "'Why' what? There's nothing to explain. I think you're cute and I thought you should know that."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
'why did you feel the need to tell me. I do not like being cute. I may just go out of my way to not be cute' Karkat signed slowly so Dave could read and hopefully hide how uncomfortable Dave's confession had made him.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave signed back at Karkat with a smirk, 'I'd like to see you try.'
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
With a contemptuous snort, Karkat threw the pillow at Dave once again and flopped down on the bed with his back to Dave. He would just give him the silent treatment until he fucked off.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave caught the pillow and lightly tossed it back onto his bed so that it landed in front of the troll. He took a seat in his computer chair, still smiling to himself with an air of victory about him as he slipped his glasses back on and went to work.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat slipped the pillow back under his head and settled in for a nap. Maybe Dave would knock it off if Karkat left him alone.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave went back to work on his lyrics, jumping over to the sign language dictionary every now and then when he had a blank moment. After a while, he glanced over to where Karkat was napping and smiled to himself softly, getting up out of his chair and quietly walking over to him. He tugged his blanket out from under Karkat's feet and threw it over the troll, returning to his seat to work some more on his sick beats.

Bro peaked his head in after a while. "Hey, why's the troll in your bed?" he asked "Isn't his bed good enough?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Beats me," Dave replied vaguely, clacking away at his keyboard. "You need something?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Just wondering why its so quiet in here" Bro replied. "Besides the obvious." He smirked. "So have you figured it out yet? Or are you still an idiot?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave ignored the insult and shrugged, assuming that Bro was talking about his lyrics. "I've got it figured out, just takes a while to fit it all into words. Trying not to write a novel here."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"I wasn't talking about your song. I was talking about the mute." Bro replied. "You know, the one that's scared of you and cuddles up to me like I'm gonna protect him." He leaned on the door frame.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro's smugness irritated Dave to no end, but he did his best to not let it show, drawling, "Oh that mute? He's alright when he's not throwing a fit." He casually tilted his head in the general direction of his guardian, his clacking coming to a halt. Bro knew something. Or maybe he didn't. Maybe he was just fucking around with Dave. He decided to amuse him, "You act as though there's still some gold dust in the pan." What else is there to figure out?
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Well, it possibly has something to do with the lovely shade of green you turn when ever I get more attention than you do." Bro replied. "I wonder what would happen if I paid a little bit more attention to him." He smirked. "Wonder how that would affect how he treats you, especially if I decide to go all Egbert on him."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave: Pretend to be unaffected by what Bro is suggesting.
"Aw, Bro, I know Derpbert's cooler than you and all, but there's no need to go falling into his shadow." He smirked, "And before you go to your gig, you should invest in new lenses. Might help with that bad eyesight what with you seeing shades of green when there's only honky-tonky white going down."

"You wanna play that game? We'll play that game." Bro replied smugly. He stepped over to the bed and sat next to Karkat's sleeping form. He gently stroked the troll's hair, drawing him from slumber with a deep purr. "Hey there buddy, have a good nap?"
Karkat nodded, rubbing an eye sleepily and turning to wrap his arms around Bro's middle and nuzzle into his side.
"Hm, you want me to get you some ice cream? Rob told me you like cookies and cream ice cream. The store down the block has it on sale." Bro offered.
Karkat nodded again, purring deeply.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave didn't look over to see what Bro was going to do. It would reveal his curiosity, proving that he was interested and being interested would be the equivalent of stating that Bro's hunch was absolutely correct. So he kept on staring at his screen, acting as though he was just reading over what he had written thus far and not at all like he was listening in on what Bro was telling Karkat. That fucker. Dave was jealous for two reasons: 1. Because he wanted Karkat to pay more attention to him than his brother (clearly) and 2. Because Bro didn't treat him with that kind of tenderness except for maybe when he was still old enough to be carried around on his leg. And if a guy can't miss getting a hug from his bro maybe once every other blue moon, then he doesn't have a clue on how to feel about much of anything.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro chuckled and stood as soon as Karkat released him. "You want any ice cream?" he asked Dave, mostly it was to rub the little exchange in, but if he wanted some, he would get it, just because Bro knew Karkat would try and share if he didn't.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave pressed on with his reading, even resting his head in his hand as though he was tired from reading and rereading his song over and over again. "Nah, I'm all set over here, thanks." Fuck you.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Okay, More for us then" Bro smirked, ruffling Karkat's hair before walking out.
Karkat sat up with a wide yawn, stretching and popping a shoulder.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro had already beaten Dave to the punch about asking how Karkat had slept, but at least Dave had some fresh new signs up his sleeve that he could flash around at Karkat. Once Bro left the room, Dave swiveled around in his chair to face the troll, signing, 'Want to go out and do something today?'
