"I just got over that earlier, so no worries," Dave stated, getting under the covers and opening a space to place the sleeping troll. Though Dave had yet to reread what the fuck he had written down, so he wasn't entirely sure if that was true. Well, at least he had written SOMETHING, so that had to be a good sign.

Bro laid Karkat down next to Dave, and the troll whimpered, immediately moving towards Dave's 'comforting' warmth.

"I'm gonna get ready for work, should be home around the same time as I was yesterday." Bro stated, standing and heading for the door.

Dave shifted so that his back was turned to the troll, waving Bro off lazily with the back of his hand. "M'kay. Later, Bro," he mumbled sleepily, scooting over a bit more to make sure that Karkat had plenty of pillow room.

Karkat's sleepy body scoot after him, his hands curling in the fabric of Dave's shirt as he curled against him. His head nuzzled right between Dave's shoulder blades with a sleepy little chirp.

Dave smiled gently to himself when he felt the troll cling behind him, settling back into Karkat's warmth. Sure, Karkat was probably going to flip the fuck out when he woke up, but right now, it was kind of nice simply laying there peacefully, chilling out. It wasn't long before Dave was asleep again, his head resting on his arm while the other covered his eyes.

Unsurprisingly, Karkat woke first. The surprise, however, was that he wasn't totally awake. He sluggishly sat up with an inquiring chirp, before shoving Dave's shoulder down so Dave was laying on his back, and laying back down using the very same shoulder as a pillow as Karkat closed his eyes again and cuddled him.

The arm over Dave's eyes instinctively wrapped around Karkat when the shoulder they were connected to was being used as a pillow. His hand slid over to the top of the troll's head and he ran his fingers through Karkat's hair. He grinned sleepily as he nuzzled his head against the side of Karkat's, blissfully unaware that he was cuddling next to the troll as he was still stuck in his dream where he was curling next to a very attractive Megan Fox.

The attention slowly coaxed Karkat to begin purring. The purring grew stronger and louder until Dave's hand brushed one of his horns. The contact caused his purring to cease as his eyes snapped open and he jerked into an upright position, shoving Dave away from him, and consequently off the bed as well, in a fit of panic.

Upon hitting the ground, Dave's eyes shot open and he grabbed at the bed covers, using them to help pull himself back up shakily. He wobbled to the side momentarily before he was able to stand his ground and blinked at Karkat, wearily rubbing his forehead. That hadn't been an ideal way to wake up, but it was rather inevitable when taking into account how scared the troll was of him. "M'woah, woah, calm down, Karkat. Bro just dropped you off in my bed earlier this morning. Nothing to freak out about," he mumbled, yawning deeply afterwards with half open eyes.

Karkat chirped in discontent, pointing at his horn, then at Dave's hand, before flopping back down on the bed with his back to Dave, scooting over to make room for the larger male.

"...Okay. Sorry about the horn touching. I guess I'll just let you go back to sleep then," Dave mumbled, turning around. Not interpreting the troll's scooting over as an invitation to lay back down but as a form of recoiling from his presence, Dave slumped over to his computer, flopping heavily onto his chair and leaning to the side to press the power button on. As the computer hummed to life, he leaned back in his seat, his head lolling to the side since he was still in the process of waking up himself.

Hearing the computer hum to life made Karkat turn and let out an inquiring chirp. He patted the bed next to him, trying to get Dave's attention to lay back down, because it was obvious that Dave was still tired.

Dave glanced back from his chair at the troll, quirking a brow at the bed space Karkat was patting. Oh geez. He wanted to cuddle. Ok Dave, years of getting glomped by Egderp should have made you prepared for this moment. Yet here you are, internally panicking. No, you're not panicking, you're going to stay cool. Cool as a fucking cucumber or some other chilled out, phallic vegetable to which collective stature is measured in.

He looked over at the monitor still working its magic and sighed finally, pulling himself out of his chair and laying with his back facing down on the bed beside Karkat. Bro said he would pay for a semester of college so by all means, Dave was going to make damn sure that he earned the right to say that he deserved that semester. That and Karkat was being incredibly adorable. Not that he would ever tell him this.

Karkat let out a soft, pleased little chirp, and laid back down with his back to Dave, giving the human plenty of room to get comfortable. He turned back over a minute later to carefully tug the sheet up to Dave's chin, and hen he rolled back over.

Dave did the same to Karkat, turning his back to him as well since he really wasn't one to initiate cuddling, that and he wasn't used to sleeping next to people. Though the troll's enthusiastic chirping encouraged him to at least give Karkat a playful hair ruffle before he shifted back into making himself comfy.

Karkat fell asleep easily enough, rolling over to cuddle into Dave once he had drifted off.

And Dave did drift off, he drifted off until it was about ten in the morning. When he woke up, he found that he had a living, breathing accessory stuck to him. He knew that he should get up since he was awake and all, but he couldn't help but want to stay where he was for just a bit longer. The body heat that Karkat provided was the equivalent of an electric blanket that left Dave feeling nice and toasty and it's not as though he was in a rush or anything. Instead, he turned around and wrapped an arm around Karkat, guiding the troll's head to rest against his chest while his chin sat on Karkat's head, careful to avoid his hurt horn.

Karkat made a little noise in his sleep, a truely pathetic noise that would normally be reserved only for a Troll's matesprit, as he tucked his head farther under Dave's chin.

That noise Karkat made grabbed Dave's attention and he pressed the troll closer to him, gently stroking Karkat's scalp. "S'okay..." he mumbled sleepily, his eyes still closed as he tried to calm the troll. He wasn't even sure if it was a noise of worriment, but even so, he suddenly had a need to make sure that Karkat felt safe.

Karkat slowly began purring, deeply and evenly. He nuzzled Dave slightly, on the verge of sleep and wakefulness.

Dave's chest shook slightly as he forced back a chuckle at Karkat's purring. Now this was something he could see Nepeta pulling, not Karkat, the king of screaming. Well, online anyway. He returned Karkat's nuzzling with his own, nestling himself comfortably around the troll. Taking a deep breath, he took in the troll's smell and thought... wow... Karkat needed a shower. Not that the troll was a mess of bad odors so much as that it was his horn alone that was stinking something awful. Dave opened his eyes and realized that it had to be an infection. Aw shit. He was going to have to clean it out and re-wrap it himself. Great. Just great. Whatever, he would deal with it whenever the troll decided to get up.

Karkat woke slowly, frowning at the realization that he was enveloped in Dave's arms. He wriggled until he could halfheartedly glare up at him and let out a questioning chirp.

Dave slid his arms away from Karkat, returning the troll's questioning sound with his own inquiry, "What? I didn't touch your horn again, did I?"

Karkat shook his head and scoot away a little, eyeing Dave warily. He sat up and stretched with a satisfying popping of his spine before crawling carefully out of bed, over Dave, and squatting down by his bag to look for clothes.

Once Karkat was over by his bag of belongings, Dave rolled out of bed and went back to the computer, shaking the mouse a bit to pull it out of screen saver mode. He typed in his password and went back to his document he had been working on earlier, lazily reading over what he had gotten done with his chin in his palm. This was sappy as fuck. Highlighting everything, his finger hovered over the delete button, but he suddenly had second thoughts. Maybe he could use these lyrics for something else, like if he made a different song just for John. Yeah. He'd just do that. But now he still had no lyrics for the mix he needed for the contest. Fuck.
