"So... Um." Karkat bit his lip and refused to look at Dave. "Does that mean you want to be my matesprit, er, um human boyfriend, or something?" he asked hopefully.

"Well, that would be nice. Though, which would it be?" He asked, reaching over to the troll and tugging him over by his sleeve. "Which would we be going by? Matesprits or boyfriends?"

Karkat shrugged. "Which do you want it? Human or Troll?"

"I'm experienced in the ways of human and troll relationships, more the former than the latter. Though I am curious about what the differences are." He said as he slipped his shades on his face, continuing to look at him.

Karkat's face darkened as he finally looked to Dave. "Um, matesprits are almost the human equivalent of married. Almost. Um, They get away with a lot in public compared to human couples."

"I see. Well, my vote is towards matesprits." He said plainly with a smile. "Human relationships can get really dull after a while."

Karkat's face darkened more. "R-really? We're matesprits then?" he asked in disbelief. "You really want to be?"

Karkat let out a small noise and turned to Dave. He hesitantly grabbed the front of Dave's shirt and tugged him down to smash their lips together clumsily.

Dave made a sound of surprise, suddenly finding himself bent a little as Karkat initiated their first kiss. His other arm made its way around the troll, pulling him closer as he began to return the kiss. He could feel his heart racing, pounding against his ribcage as the kiss continued.

Karkat purred before carefully tugging Dave farther down, so Dave's lips brushed his neck. "Mark me" he mumbled.

"Really?" He asked, glancing up at him from the new angle. Though he took no time in hesitating, pressing a couple soft kisses to the warm skin before latching his mouth onto the spot.

Karkat let out a soft keen, his knees quivering. His fingers tightened in Dave's shirt to keep himself standing.

He let out a soft groan against his skin, sucking at the skin while lazily drifting his tongue back and forth.

Karkat's keening slowly grew louder, until he abruptly pulled away when the elevator doors dinged open on the bottom floor. His face was dark and he was short of breath, but he looked happy.

Dave stood straight, wiping his mouth clean of any straying saliva before giving a smirk. He kept his arm around Karkat as they walked into the lobby and out the door, headed towards the student commons.

Karkat's face remained dark the entire way, the trolls that were out (having recently gotten up for their 'early' classes) giving them knowing smirks and snickers. When they got to the commons, a familiar voice called out.

"Um, hey!" Tavros grinned as he rolled up to the two of them. "Um, you guys eating now? W-wanna eat together?" He looked to Karkat, his smile freezing when he spotted the mark on his neck. "Oh, um, wow. Um..." His grin widened slowly "Congratulations"

Dave just kept his gaze straight, though he noticed them as they walked. He looked back at Tavros flashing him a light smirk. "Hey man." He said, giving him a brofist.

Karkat's flush darkened and he refused to look at Tavros.

"So, um, is it a quadrant, or, um, the human romance?" Tavros asked. "I mean, I assume its, um, troll, since you m-marked him like a m-matesprit would"

"You assume correct." He said, giving a confirming nod. He wondered why Karkat found the floor more interesting at the moment, but he didn't call him out on it.

Karkat leaned against Dave a little as Tavros rolled a little closer.

Tavros chuckled. "Don't worry, I have my quadrants filled" he grinned. "I won't steal him"

As a reaction to the sudden press of weight against his side, Dave pulled him closer while gently rubbing his shoulder with his thumb. "I wouldn't imagine that you would, bro." He said, raising his brow in curiosity. "You've never told me about your quadrants before, now that I think about it."

"Well, um, both my red and black quadrants are filled quite securely. Gamzee is, um, my matesprit and, uh, Vriska is my kismisis. Kanaya, um, is our auspicice, and m-my moirail is, uh, Aradia." Tavros chuckled. "You're only the second quadrant Karkat has filled."

Karkat gave Tavros a small glare.

"I always knew you and Makara had a thing going." Dave said with a smirk. "Are quadrants really everything to a troll?" He asked, noticing how Karkat was acting. Shit made sense now.

Karkat tugged Dave's sleeve. "Hungry" he mumbled.
