Once all the students were accounted for, the professor came in and started his lecture. Karkat, not catching a single word, spent the entire class drifting in and out of consciousness.

Dave made sure to take notes, planning on sending them to Karkat to copy later. The poor guy needed his rest. During gaps of the lecture, Dave would look over at the troll who was struggling to stay awake. Once again, he found the antics to be absolutely adorable.

At the end of class, Karkat seemed to be asleep. Or at least he wasn't moving while everyone else was leaving.

Dave put all of his things away before leaning close to softly speak and gently nudge him. "C'mon sleeping beauty, rise and shine."

Karkat let out a small whine, turning his face away. When he couldn't get comfortable, he pushed himself up. "Ngh. go back to sleep in mdorm" he mumbled, stumbling towards the door. "Too tired."

He followed behind him placing a hand on his shoulder to keep him steady. "Can't make it the rest of the day?"

Karkat made a negative noise, shaking his head. He probably couldn't make it through another class let alone the rest of the day.

"Want me to walk you to your dorm again?" He offered, guiding him towards the elevator.

Karkat shrugged, looking up at Dave over his shoulder. "Don't you have class?" he mumbled questioningly

"Mixed media is next. It's gotten to the point where I'm practically teaching that class rather than learning. He won't mind if I'm late." He explained.

Karkat made a little noise of understanding, turning his gaze back in front of him. "Thanks" he mumbled, leaning slightly into the hand that that was on his shoulder.

"No problem man." He said sincerely, a smile on his face now that they were safely alone in the elevator. The hand slipped around Karkat's shoulders to get a better grip, just in case the troll decided to drop right here and now.

Karkat let out a small purr, leaning into Dave's side and letting his eyes slip shut. "Sollux said you had a friend coming out in a week or two" Karkat mumbled softly, trying to keep himself awake through conversation.

"Yeah. His name is John." He said as he allowed the troll closer to him, not at all minding the warmth that he gave off. "He's coming for break to hang with us."

"Oh god." He said before chuckling. "I think he's into movies even more than you are. Holy shit, this kid could make so many of those shitty video reviews you see online." He watched the numbers change on the elevator wall as they went down. "I'm sure he'd like to go with us."

"That's nice. I'll skip my last class and we can go before that nut job starts her shift." Karkat replied. "That way we can get out of there before one in the morning"

He snickered and nodded. "Sounds good to me." The elevator doors opened after a couple seconds, and Dave walked out, bringing Karkat along with him.

Karkat stumbled a little, bringing a hand up to grab Dave's shirt to keep him from falling. He rightened himself so he wouldn't bring Dave down with him, opening his eyes back up. "sorry"

"It'll take more than that to bring me down, bro." He said with a snicker, having only lightly stumbled before standing his ground, keeping them both up. "Just be more careful, alright?" He said before continuing to walk, making sure the troll was taking proper steps as he did.

As they walked across campus, Dave began to think of little things. Like how trolls are able to purr, and how warm Karkat was. He knew other trolls could purr, having heard them himself, but as far as being warm, he was never really close enough to another to find out. Though, feeling the warmth even through Karkat's hoodie was pleasing and calming to him.

Karkat pressed a little closer as they passed a group of other students. He wasn't purposeful in how obvious his flush crush was right now, he was actually rather oblivious due to his fatigue.

Dave didn't think much of it, considering the idea of Karkat having a flush crush for him hadn't crossed his mind before last night. He just thought the troll was overly tired and was heavily leaning on him for support. That's all...right?

Karkat's phone buzzed in his pocket and he grumbled lightly as he slipped it out. He squinted at the sender, only to shove it back into the pocket when he saw it was his moirail.
