Dave watched as he checked his phone, catching a glimpse of the contact name. He wondered what Captor could want, but he didn't call him out on it. Instead, he focused on heading towards Karkat's dorm building, which wasn't very far by now.

Karkat grumbled when his phone continued to vibrate, but he really didn't feel like talking to Gamzee right now. Especially when Dave said that the two didn't get along.

Dave held open the door to the lobby, walking them both in and directly towards the elevator. He glanced around at any inhabitants of the area before stepping into the opening elevator.

Karkat finally pulled his phone out again, only to shut it off. He would have to apologize to his moirail later, but it would be worth it for the possibility of real sleep.

Dave pressed the button before leaning back against the elevator wall. Absentmindedly, his thumb lightly rubbed at Karkat's shoulder as he watched the numbers change as they ascended the floors.

Karkat leaned his head on Dave's shoulder and began to purr again. "I've changed my mind." he mumbled wearily.

"About what?" He asked, looking down at him now, continuing the stroking with his thumb.

Dave blinked behind his shades before slowly smiling, looking back up at the illuminated numbers. "You're not bad yourself." He said softly.

Karkat purred a little louder, cuddling into Dave's side. "I really like you" he mumbled softly.

Dave paused for a moment, silence filling the small enclosure besides the low whirring of the elevator. Finally he spoke, and as he did, he could feel his heart racing. "Define 'really like'?"

"Really?" He said, looking down at him, having gained his full attention. "When did this start?" He asked, pulling Karkat closer to him.

Karkat's eyes drifted shut again as he shrugged with an absent "uhdunno" passing through his slightly parted lips.

Dave said nothing more, just staring at the troll with contemplating eyes. He was wondering if Karkat was only coming out to him about this because he was so tired. Maybe he didn't even know what he was saying. Though he wouldn't disregard it right away, not just yet.

He lifted Karkat from the wall once the elevator doors opened, guiding him out into the hallway and towards his dorm.

Karkat let himself be led along once again, too tired to open his eyes and care. He did remember to pull his keys out of his pocket though, keeping them held loosely in one hand.

Dave slipped the keys out of Karkat's hand, unlocking the door before leading him inside. He walked over towards the couch, leaning down a little so he could easily dislodge from Dave and just flop down on the couch.

Karkat grumbled a little when Dave leaned down, and tried to straighten and stay attached to Dave, because let's face it, he was warm. But being as tired as he was, that failed and he ended up flopping down on the couch anyway.

Once he was free of another body, unfortunately, he stood straight and looked down at him. "Get some rest, dude. I'll see you at some point." He said with a small smile, giving his shoulder one more rub before turning to leave.

Karkat gave a small whine and caught the edge of Dave's shirt, tugging it hopefully.

He turned and looked at him with a raised brow. "What?" He asked, kneeling down beside the couch to get to his level.

Karkat wrapped his arms around Dave's neck, tugging him a little closer, and buried his neck in the crook with a little noise. He only started purring after nuzzling the warm skin there.

Dave blushed at the contact, especially at that purr. "You want me to stay or something?" He asked him, running his fingers through his hair all while minding his horns. He learned through Tavros that a trolls horns were sensitive, and the last thing he wanted was to cause any form of awkwardness between them.

Karkat nodded slightly, already on his way to a somewhat peaceful sleep from Dave's warmth. He tilted his head into the petting a little, but kept his face in the crook of Dave's neck.

Not one to deny such an opportunity, Dave took it upon himself to move onto the futon, laying down beside the troll to pull him even closer. He wrapped his arms around him, one of his hands placed on the back of his head to toy with his hair.
