Karkat pressed himself as close to Dave as he could, his purring first deepening, then softening as he drifted off to sleep. Karkat would never admit it, but he always slept better out of the sopor slime when he had someone to sleep with.

Dave took to watching him sleep in the meantime, noticing how relaxed the troll looked when he wasn't scowling all the time. Though eventually, the lull of his purring and warmth was proving to be too much, and he found his own eyes drifting shut. Within fifteen minutes, the human was asleep alongside the Cancer.

After what would normally be considered lunch for humans, Sollux grudgingly shoved Karkat's door opened. "KK if you're not going to talk to your moirail, at leatht tell him why you-" his protest died on his lips when he saw Dave.

Despite the burst in, Dave managed to stay asleep. His arms were protectively around Karkat, one arm around his shoulders, the other pressed against the small of his back. The way they were positioned, Karkat's head was being cradled against his chest while Dave's was lightly resting on his.

The human gave a deep whine, his eyes opening and glancing up at his head attacker. "Captor?" He mumbled, once his bleary vision cleared. Once he registered what was said, he gave a small snort. "It's not like that. Not yet anyway."

"He was tired on his own." He explained, rubbing his own eyes under his shades. "I brought him back here to make sure he didn't knock out elsewhere, and when I went to leave, he didn't want me to."

Dave rolled his eyes before turning to face the Cancer again. He ran his fingers through his hair, watching as he continued to sleep.

Karkat made a little noise and tucked his head under Dave's chin with a purr. It looked like he wasn't quite ready to wake up yet. He curled his fingers into Dave's shirt, his claws lightly pricking his chest through the material.

Dave lightly nuzzled the top of Karkat's head, deciding to let the other sleep as long as he desired. He made a soft noise as he felt the light scraping of his skin from the claws on his hands. In this moment, Karkat reminded Dave of an actual cat: curled up, purring, and kneading the closest thing to his hands. He smiled at the thought, finding it amusingly cute.

Karkat eventually did wake up a little before five, courtesy of a growling stomach. He grumbled as he shifted and tilted his head up to look at Dave. "You're still here?" he mumbled.
