Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat simply shrugged off Dave's weird behavior. He was starting to get used to weird reactions from Dave.
Bro set his beer on the table and got up to put pants on. Nothing wrong with a little commando action. "We should rent you a good RomCom to watch tonight." He stated to Karkat. "Maybe we can convince Dave to go pick one out for you later"
Karkat perked up and nodded with a smile.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave stepped back out of the kitchen, at first heading towards the living room, but suddenly just found himself standing there, staring at the back of Karkat's head ten feet behind him. He tipped his head to the side, considering doing something. So he did.
He walked up to Karkat grabbed him by the hair, shoved his tongue far enough to taste his tonsils, and made diabetic invoking sweet, sweet alien love to him right then and there on the couch. In front of Bro of course.
But that was all in his mind's eye.
Instead, he stated, "I'm gonna go work some more on my mix," and walked into his room, guilt tripping himself for being so lame and not doing anything all the way to his desk.

"Have fun." Bro replied. "Don't hurt yourself thinking too hard."
Karkaat simply nodded and turned his attention back to the TV.
Bro plopped back down and teased him a little as he joined in watching. After that movie went off another followed and soon enough it was nearly two in the afternoon.
"Dave!" Bro called from the couch. "Come here!"

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave paused in the middle of the song, pulling his head phones off when he thought he heard Bro call for him. He stepped back out of his room, asking as he entered the living room in a mock German accent, "Jah, mein fuhrer?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro looked up at him from the futon, where he sat with Karkat leaning against him watching TV. "You should go pick up lunch and a movie. Get a RomCom or two that you and Karkat can watch tonight."
Karkat didn't seem to be paying attention, his eyes glued to the shitty movie on TV.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave gave his brother a weird look, suddenly being the designated meal ticket for the day. "Allllriiiiight, but you're paying for lunch when I get back." He kept wanting to press the issue of them simply buying groceries and greatly reducing their constant intake of fast food grease, but that was a debate he could never win for some odd reason. Bro won at everything, even if he was siding for the absurd.
He went back into his room and returned with his helmet under his arm, asking, "Anywhere specific you want me to go or just grab whatever's by Blockbuster?"

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Grab some Chipotle, I'm in the mood for a burrito." Bro replied, turning back to the Tv with his arm around Karkat. "My wallet's on the counter, just take it and use whatever Cash is in it to pay."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave grabbed the wallet and stuck it in his pocket, pausing when he opened the door and looking back at them. Something was amiss. He was leaving Karkat alone with Bro. Bro had his arm around him and everything. And everything. Whatever that was. He was worrying about nothing. What was he even worrying about? What worry? Striders never worry. Then this poor excuse of a Strider was anyway. "You want anything exactly from Chipotle, Karkat?" He asked, clearing his throat when he discovered some faltering phlegm in it.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat looked to Dave, then looked to Bro. He signed and Bro nodded.
"He wants a steak burrito with sauteed peppers, black beans, green salsa, sour cream and cheese." Bro translated. "Make sure to get us both an order of chips and extra salsa, and you know my usual order, and make sure they put extra guacamole on it this time."

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave had to replay the message in his head a few times before he had the order memorized. God forbid he actually write it down. That was for people who were too lame to be able to remember these sorts of things. Also, it was pretty much one of the millions of unwritten rules of thumb in the Strider household to never need something repeated to you twice. So having Bro tell him to put the moves on Karkat twice already was something like an insult to injury really.
"Alright, be back in a bit," he said, waving them off with his free hand and locking the door behind him on his way out.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro wasted no time. As soon as Dave was gone, he turned to Karkat with a wide smirk. "Okay Karkat, let's play a game."
Karkat looked up at him with a curious trill.
"This Game is called 'Let's make Dave snap'. I already told you that he likes you and he's just afraid to make you scared of him again, so now, we're gonna make him so Jealous that he's gonna snap and go for it. Let me explain the rules."

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
An hour later, Dave was back with their orders in a bag along with a few VHS movies in a Blockbuster bag cradled in his arm, the other holding his helmet and keys after he unlocked the door. His eyes were on the floor as he stepped inside, shutting the door with his foot as he stated openly, "They had a shortage of guacamole, but I got as much as I could get short of robbing the place."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
His only response was a soft trill from Karkat, who, at that particular moment, was sitting astride Bro's lap with his head buried in his shoulder. His arms were loosely wrapped around Bro's neck, his ears were red, and he was quivering.
"That's nice isn't it?" Bro murmured just loud enough for Dave to hear, one hand gently petting the back of Karkat's head the other out of sight because of the futon.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave's flat lip line dragged downwards into a gape as his eyes lifted and grew wide behind his shades, eyebrows lifting past the brim of his bangs. He should have listened to his gut that there was something wrong with Bro telling him to leave all of a sudden. He should have, but he didn't, and now he was hating every fraction of a centimeter of himself for not doing anything. He had been doing that a lot lately; nothing.
A very uncool emotion began to break through him. It wasn't anger, like he had expected it would be if there was ever something he could feel as strongly as this besides cool and collected. Truth be told, he hadn't felt all that cool or collected since he first met Karkat. But that was beside the point. What he was feeling right then was slowly becoming conveyed through his eyebrows gradually dropping into upside down arches and his mouth pulling back up into a grimace. For once in Dave's life, he genuinely felt hurt.
For a while, Dave stood there, staring at the two. So Bro was putting on this show, knowing full well that his little brother would be back any minute to see it. Dave wasn't completely daft to think that this was just some sort of 'accidental sideshow' he had walked in on. Just more, subtle, insults to his intelligence. But Karkat. He had no fucking clue what Karkat was thinking, clearly not protesting to whatever Bro was doing with that hand.
Carefully, he set the bag down on the coffee table, his grip clearly shaking, eyes averted from the action happening on the couch. He stepped away then from the table and went back towards the door, refusing to look back. Making a scene would show so many ugly things inside of him that he really couldn't handle bringing to the surface, like how he felt about Karkat, how he thought Karkat felt about him, how Bro was doing this because he fucking could. What could Dave do? Fight for someone who clearly wasn't all that into him? If Karkat wanted Dave, he wouldn't be sitting in his brother's lap, ignoring that he was even there. He might as well have never been there. He was just going to pretend that he wasn't.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro's hand slipped farther up into Karkat's hair, meaning to make it look more intimate, but he brushed Karkat's horn by accident.
The change was immediate, Karkat sat up, trying to push himself away from Bro with loud twitters and keens, vulnerable in his current position and instincts coming out with a fight to keep the man away from his horns.
"Hey, What the fuck?" Bro snapped, struggling to keep the troll in his lap so he wouldn't fall onto the coffee table.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave had just placed his hand on the doorknob when he heard the troll start making sounds that were by far the near opposite of purring. He had promised himself that he wouldn't look back, cool guys don't look at explosions, or in this case, heartbroken dudes don't look at their love life blow up in their face. Wow. That second one really didn't have any ring or even the slightest jingle to it. Perhaps his career as a rapper was ending just as swiftly.
But anyway.
He looked back, not entirely sure what was going on, but it clearly wasn't something that Karkat was favoring. Flashstepping over to the futon, he looped his arms around the near-shrieking troll's torso, trying to pry him off of Bro. "Jesus, fuck, Bro, what did you do?" If Karkat didn't like what Bro was doing to the point of making those kinds of noises, Dave would be nothing short of walking around a rapist getting busy with puppies if he didn't intervene here.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat growled as Bro released him, leaning heavily back into Dave.
Bro quirked a brow at the troll. "Fuck if I know, I was just massaging his back cause he was complaining that he slept on it wrong last night. You think I was trying to steal him from you?"

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
A tsunami of relief washed over Dave as he realized that they hadn't been doing anything like he had thought they were. He had been over-reacting, nothing was wrong, he was hurt over nothing, which was almost as bad as being hurt over something, but in this case, not nearly as much. It was almost too good to be true. He wasn't even sure if he entirely believed it himself, especially when Bro's choice of words sent him further back into a run for his money.
Dave hugged Karkat from behind a little harder than he had intended, addressing Bro, "I thought he was free range?" Karkat likes me? What Bro just said insinuated that Karkat was something that could be stolen from Dave, as in, Karkat was his, not just literally in his arms at the moment, but also figuratively speaking.

"He Fucking is" Bro replied He does, but you're fucking it up with your constant mixed signals. "I've still got to give you a fighting chance don't I?"
If you don't make up your mind, I'll do it for you
Karkat let out a little chirp at the tightening grip, blinking owlishly at Bro now that the adrenaline was out of his system.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"No need to," Dave replied, helping Karkat to his feet, "Shouldn't have let him roam in open fields without branding him first, right?" I've already made up my mind. When Dave saw his brother with Karkat and had thought the worst, for no more than a minute, it just about crushed him. That moment wasn't about to have a sequel, not on his watch, if he had a watch.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Then Brand him" Bro smirked. "Unless you don't have the balls to."
Karkat blinked at first one Strider, then the other. He didn't know what was going on anymore and it was confusing him. He let out another small chirp, his brow furrowing in a little frown.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave didn't say anything else to Bro, simply quirking a challenging brow at him before setting his sights on Karkat. They were doing this; it was either now or never. He couldn't very well allow Bro to have official consensus to believe that his little brother was lacking of metaphorical testicles of machismo. He'd have to drop his family name and wear a paper bag over his head before he could let that happen.
So without further ado, Dave slid his hand behind Karkat's head and tilted it towards him, his other hand gliding around the troll's back to keep him in place as he moved in closer. He tipped his head to the side and leaned forward, licking his lips before firmly kissing Karkat.
That was the easiest thing he had ever done. There was no need for the uncoordinated, just-learning-how-to-kiss-someone, blundering, at least not on his end. Just because he was a virgin, didn't mean he wasn't well versed on the fine art of making out with people.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat stiffened and his hands flew to Dave's chest, as if to push him away, but he hesitated. Instead, his fingers curled into the fabric, his eyes slowly slid shut, and a purr started deep in his chest and gradually got louder.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave grinned against Karkat's lips, humming pleasantly in tune with the purring, more than satisfied with the troll's reaction. He deepened the kiss as a distraction while he took a small step closer, placing a leg between Karkat's thighs. His grip on Karkat's back tightened as he tipped him back a bit and gently ground his knee against the troll's crotch as a sort of preview for future events.
And just as suddenly as he started kissing him, he stopped, tipping the troll upright again and pulling his lips away from Karkat's. "Hope that cleared the static."

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat nearly fell when Dave tipped him pack up and just pulled away, letting out a surprised chirp. The only things keeping him up were Dave's chest and arms, which he was wedged between. He blinked stupidly, his stomach feeling warm and possibly a little tingly.
"I don't know, I'm not sure the volume's high enough" Bro snickered, leaning back and stretching out on the futon. "Why don't you go to your room and I'll see if I can still hear you from out here"
