Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat swallowed loudly and handed Dave the half empty pint with shaking hands. His face was clearly red and he forced himself to look back at his lap and not at Dave.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave took the ice cream along with its lid and went into the kitchen, pulling out the spoons and plunking them in the sink. He resealed the ice cream, tugging the freezer door open and stepped back for the avalanche of swords before stacking the quart on top of one of ice cream tubs inside. The swords were put back in their place and he came back into the living room, ruffling Karkat's hair, "Come on, what's the hold up?" There wasn't really much of a 'hold up', Dave was just moving along really fast, but he liked to put the idea in the troll's head that he was making Karkat hesitate to move from that spot.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat hurried to his feet, his face still tinged pink. He followed Dave to his bedroom, keeping his eyes glued to the floor.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave leaned over his comp and shook his mouse, bringing the computer out of screen saver mode and he logged back on, presenting the movie listings once again. "So this is the nearest movie theater within walking distance, so, pick whatever they're showing and we'll get going." He turned his chair to face the troll and offered him a seat so that Karkat could have a closer look.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat sat down and let his eyes skim the list of movies. He licked his lips a few times, glancing at a few show times to make up his mind. He would need to apply his human make up before they go out and it would take a little while to do it by himself. Finally, he pointed to a movie, looking over his shoulder at Dave with an inquiring chirp.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave squinted at the screen, mouthing the title before cocking his head to the side, stating in the form of a question, "Bridesmaids?" He pulled back and shrugged, "Alright, sounds ironic enough for me." As an after thought, he decided to ask, "You need anything for blending in? Or do you already have that all set up with you?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat pointed to his bags as he got up, moving over to dig through the smaller one. He pulled out a make up bag and showed it to Dave with a little smile. Then he stood back up and made his way to stand, waiting, outside the bathroom door, waiting for Bro to finish his shower.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave followed after Karkat, tapping him on the shoulder, "Hey, I've got a mirror in my room you could use. I don't mind helping out either unless you want your privacy which I can just stay out until you're done."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat's smile widened and he happily followed after Dave back to his room. He set his bag on Dave's bed, opening it and taking out a wide array of skin tone make ups and a few tubes of lipstick.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave flipped over a long, rectangular mirror propped up against his wall and laid it back against his chair after scooting it up so that it faced his bed. He patted an open space on his bed for Karkat to be seen in the mirror's reflection and skimmed across the various shades of skin tone, asking, "What race you wanna be tonight?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat snorted in amusement and ignored Dave in favor of starting to pour beige foundation on a make up sponge to smear on his face and neck. After he got all of what was on the sponge on him, he set it down a moment to pull his shirt off, refill the sponge and continue.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave hadn't expected Karkat to pull his shirt off and he raised a brow, leaning against the side of the bed as he watched the troll cover up his skin, "How much of your body are you going to be showing when we go to the movies? Because I'm pretty sure they've got a no shirt, no service policy in there somewhere."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat snorted and playfully shoved Dave before applying the foundation down to his collarbone. He had to apply it down below his shirt line because part of it would show under his collar. Once he had a good coat of foundation all over his face, he picked up another shade and squeezed some out onto the sponge, applying it it places that would be darker around his face and neck. John had helped him do this a lot since he came to earth.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Undeterred by the shove, Dave pressed on, trying to find something to do while he waited for Karkat to get ready, "Want me to help powder your nose while I'm here?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat rolled his eyes and ignored Dave as he continued. Using the clean side of the sponge, he smeared the two shades together so they blended. Then he got out the powder and a brush. He started applying it carefully, all over.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave finally just took a seat on the bed and laid back with his arms behind his head since he wasn't being much use to Karkat other wise. He didn't have a clue how make up worked really; he had only offered to help as a way to get the troll back in his room and away from Bro.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
A little while later, Karkat put away all his make up, pausing to put on some lipstick, such a light shade of pink, it looked like natural colored lips. Then he got out a little bottle and closed his eyes to spray his face. After everything was put up, he carefully pulled his shirt back on, put his bag away, and put on a hat and his grey jacket. He searched a minute before finding his cheep shades in one of the pockets.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave finally sat back up in his bed when it appeared that Karkat was mostly ready, if not completely from what he could tell. "Well, now aren't you looking like another pink monkey in the crowd?" He smirked, rising to his feet. "Good work. Now where'd you put your shoes?" He at least wanted to help with something before they left and helping put the troll's shoes on seemed like his best bet at appearing somewhat useful.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat pulled on a pair of leather gloves as he thought, wiggling his stocking toes as he did so. Finally he signed 'Under the couch' not knowing the sign for futon. He dug out a wallet from the front of his bag and shoved it in his back pocket.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave suppressed the look of confusion he had when Karkat signed for under the couch. He only caught the word 'under', so that was enough of a hint for him to start looking under things. Under the bed, under his desk, under his chair. He had no idea that they might be somewhere in the living room until he sat back up on his knees and shrugged at Karkat. "Under what?" In hindsight, that probably should have been the first thing he asked before going on that goose chase.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat gently took Dave by the shoulders and steered him out of the room, towards the living room. He stopped and signed 'under the couch' again, making sure to point at the futon.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave hunched over and looked under the futon, spotting the shoes right away and pulling them out. He gestured for Karkat to take a seat as he sat up on his knees and untied the laces, not minding one bit playing the part of Karkat's shoe dresser.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat raised a brow, but complied, sitting on the futon. He let his feet swing boredly, wondering how long it would take them to walk to the theater and what candy they had. He was particularly fond of cotton candy and gummy worms. John was the one who always insisted on popcorn, but Karkat didn't much care for it.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave scooted up and took a hold of one of Karkat's feet, slipping the appropriate shoe on. The laces were tied up once again and he repeated the process with the second shoe, handling the shoe strings with a skilled finesse that was only fitting to the Strider name. "All done," Dave declared, smiling up at the troll.
He patted one of Karkat's knees in a friendly gesture and rose to his feet, rubbing his hand along his pockets to make sure he had what he needed still on him. Keys, cellphone, wallet: Check. "Anything else you'll be needing before we go?"

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat looked thoughtful for a moment before shaking his head. He slipped off the couch onto his feet and dusted himself of any crumbs that he may have acquired from the futon.
Bro chose that moment to walk out into the living room, still dripping from his shower and clad only in a towel. "You guys off already?"
