Suggesting that it's ironic to flirt with someone was similar claiming that they were not the type to flirt; ergo saying they're not the type to offer sexual appeal. Dave's glare backed down and his eyes lowered, his expression blank as his glasses obscured the hopelessness in his eyes. "Subtle or not, it'd be all irony to him." Why am I even trying?

He even took his glasses off for Karkat, just so he would know that Dave wasn't messing around. And that wasn't enough. Being a coolkid wasn't enough. Being himself wasn't enough. Dave wasn't enough. So he backed off of Bro, rubbing his forehead and staring at the floor. "It's not even like he's the first who's had trouble with my literacy." I've had other crushes with the same problem.

Dave sighed, adding in a somewhat begrudging tone, "But... I guess now's as good a time as any to learn from the librarian." Show me what I have to do.

"When the Hell did you learn sign language?" Dave asked, not picking up much of what Bro had signed to him as he was too startled by the fact that Bro was signing at all to pay attention. That and he didn't know all of the signs.

Karkat chirped at Dave and held out a spoonful of ice cream towards Dave's mouth with a smile.

Bro resumed his position leaning on the back of the couch, just watching them.

Okay Dave, this is your chance to prove yourself as a flirt. No, wait, maybe it isn't. You'll just be a copy cat if you do what your brother did. You won't look like a flirt, you'll look like an unoriginal slut. Dave anxiously looked over at where Bro was sitting, realizing that they were being watched which just made him even more unwilling to go through with the suggestive, oral teasing. But Karkat was offering him the spoonful like he wouldn't mind the show; it's not like he was absent minded enough to forget what Bro had just done. So... maybe that was a clue that he should go for it anyway?

Leaning forward, Dave's hand glided over the one Karkat was using to hold the spoon, gently guiding the utensil into his mouth until his lips brushed against the side of the troll's thumb and forefinger. He drew the spoon back slowly until it slid out of his mouth and he swallowed the ice cream soundly, licking his lips. Then a bit more quickly, he licked away the faint white traces of it in the spoon's bowl before letting go of Karkat's hand and shifting back to continue watching tv. He hoped that hadn't been over board. Oh Gog, it probably was. Fuck.

Karkat blushed a little and gave a half scolding chirp. He then turned his attention back to his ice cream, eating a few bites before offering Dave another bite from the spoon. Bro took Karkat's wrist to direct the spoon at his mouth instead, but Karkat let out a loud noise of protest and tried to swat him away with his free hand.

Dave's attention was brought back on Karkat when he heard the troll make a negative cry. He pulled out the second spoon in the ice cream quart and used it to tap Bro's knuckles lightly before flipping it around to offer the handle side to him. "Don't have to rob the ice cream man when you've got a truck load right here." Back off.

Karkat chirped with a scowl and offered the spoonful to Dave again.

Glad that Bro didn't insist upon supporting the one spoon, three mouths dilemma, Dave smooched the top of the spoonful Karkat was handing him delicately before trailing his tongue along the wad of frozen cream, liquidizing some of it under the heat of his mouth. The ice cream disappeared behind his lips and he licked away the trickling white sweet along the bottom of the spoon. "Thanks." He smiled at Karkat, not turning back to face the tv this time when he was finished.

Karkat bushed a little again, looking down at his ice cream and stabbing it a little with his spoon. He ate a few more bites before gathering enough courage to offer Dave ice cream again.

Dave wondered what Karkat was thinking since he wasn't getting scolded on that last bite. The troll seemed a lot more hesitant before offering him another spoonful, leading him to decide that maybe he was freaking Karkat out. He backed off on the sexual innuendo this time when he accepted the spoon, simply popping it in his mouth and sliding it back out in five seconds or less.

Karkat seemed to look a little disappointed, but he scooped up more ice cream and offered it to Dave with a little chirp.

Bro quirked a brow, then smirked when he figured it out. "I'm gonna jump in the shower." He stated, dropping his spoon in the carton and flash-stepping out of sight.

Once it was just the two of them, Dave scooted closer to Karkat and placed a hand on the troll's knee as he leaned over towards the spoon. Rather than taking the spoonful and eating it dully, he jumped over to the conclusion that Karkat was enjoying feeding him so he went back to doing what he had been before. He kept his tongue out and pressed it along the edges of the spoon, licking away the ice cream threatening to spill over the edge before running it over the top. His hand gave a gentle squeeze to Karkat's knee once he finally took the ice cream into his mouth, slowly pulling his head back until his lips were no longer pressed against the metal.

Karkat stared at him, swallowing loudly as he felt his face heating up. He quickly lowered his gaze when he realized he was staring, shoving a spoonful of ice cream into his own mouth to quell the near hysterical chirp that was threatening to leave him.

"When you're done eating, I've got movie showtimes on the computer for you to choose from," Dave stated, keeping his hand on Karkat's knee. He liked this closeness, even starting to hold faith that Karkat didn't mind it either since he wasn't objecting to it so far.

Karkat nodded, giving the ice cream his seemingly undivided attention. After a few more bites, he offered more to Dave, not looking up.

Dave's other hand held Karkat's chin and tipped it up to look at him as he slid the spoon back into his mouth, not doing anything fancy this time, just taking it slow. After slipping the dessert-free spoon out from between his lips, he smiled at Karkat and let go of him, offering a hand out for the quart of ice cream, "I can take care of that if you're finished."
