John grinned. "I'm glad you like it"

Dirk had moved not long after Dave left. He was sitting hunched over a smuppet on the bottom bunk. The curtain was only half drawn and the door was half open from when Cal checked on him before he left for work.

Six or seven finished smuppets sat around him, all of them new. Dirk liked busy-work when he was upset.

Jeff finally rolled his ass out of bed at 1 in the afternoon. He left his room, still only dressed in a wife beater and boxers. He was going to check on the boys first. He was hoping they could do something as as family since he had the evening off.

Dirk was still in his room. The smuppet count was up to ten by 1 in the afternoon, and Dirk was still in his pajamas, which was an oddity in itself. Dirk was a very neat, crisp creature when it came to how he looked and his personal hygiene.

Jeff knocked before going into their room. Of course Dave was gone already. Probably over at the Egbert House, getting nailed. He smiled at Dirk. "Hey kiddo. Whatcha up to?"

Dirk didn't even look up at him. "Sewing." he mumbled. He wasn't even wearing his shades so it was clear where his eyes were directed.

Jeff nodded, watching him. "I have the night off. Wanna come out to the living room and watch movies with me? I can order us something to eat. You can pick it too."

"Movies at least?" Jeff stepped closer to the bed. "I wanted to spend the day with you two."

Dirk shrugged. "Movies are stupid. Dave won't be back till tomorrow. Probably not even till later." He finished the stitch, broke the thread and set the smuppet aside with the others.

Jeff sighed, but didn't leave. "What would you like to do? I want to spend some time with you."

"This." Dirk mumbled. "Why do you want to spend time with me, you never have before. You usually leave me to my own devices and spend time with Dave. Nobody wants me around anyway."

Jeff huffed and crossed his arms. "Just last weekend. I asked you if you wanted to watch a movie with me. You got an attitude with me and said no."

"Don't bother." Jeff was leaving the room. "You don't want to anyway. I was trying to be nice."

Dirk scowled and threw a smuppet at the door. He turned and threw himself back on the bed, facedown this time. He didn't give a fuck about what he told Dave before he left. He didn't want to find anything to do anymore. He was going to sulk like any other unreasonable teenager. It was only a matter of time before John forced Dirk out of Dave's life anyway.

Dirk was insignificant anyway. He shouldn't have been born, he had been the sickly twin anyway, not even their mother had wanted anything to do with him growing up. Jeff had only taken care of him because he was obligated to.

Jeff left, quietly closing the door. He wasn't in the mood to deal with Dirk's moodyness today.

Dirk laid in bed for what felt like hours, when in reality it was maybe one at most. He got up, shuffling slowly from the bedroom to the bathroom. No matter how much he didn't want to get up, he wasn't going to pee the bed. That was gross.

Jeff was laying on the couch, watching Judge Judy. He was hoping Dirk would change his mind and join him. He could always order something to eat later in the day. Jeff kept his eyes on the tv when Dirk stepped out of the room. Best leave him alone. He'd just throw a fit if the oldest Strider approached him.

Dirk did his business and made extra sure to wash his hands. His hair was still kinked and plastered to his head from sleep, and he just didn't feel like taking his usual morning shower. It wasn't even morning anymore.

He shuffled out to the livingroom and stood in front of the hallway, sort of awkwardly hunching in on himself.
