John knew his cheeks were heating up and turning pink. He quickly walked ahead of Jake to go downstairs. "You must have been hearing something else."

John's face felt like it was on fire. He felt like leaning back into Jake's touch, melting into a puddle from joy, and curling into a ball and crying all at the same time. This was only a platonic hug. He felt ashamed of himself. The other boy was one of his closest friends. Even treated him like family despite the fact they weren't actually related. But John had to be selfish and want more. John laughed and hoped his cousin didn't suspect anything. "This is so gay Jake. I was just taking a shit. No need to go all homo on me."

John laughed again, a nervous chuckle this time. "I was just pooping Jake. I didn't want to stink up the downstairs bathroom since we'll be spending all night down there." It was just platonic, family concern. Nothing more and nothing less. It was nice having the older boy care for him though.
