Karkat's face darkened. He was actually a prude, even though he was the one all his friends came to for love advice.

"I guess. As far as I know though, Rose and Kanaya are the only human troll relationship I know of. Outside of us anyway." He said. "John and Jade never really enlightened me on their separate relationship status'."

Tavros outright laughed. "Oh man. Uh, really? Ha, well last I heard, um, She was close to the sea trolls, um, both in her pale quadrants" Tavros grinned.

"Who the hell are you talking about?" Karkat finally asked.

Dave looked over at Karkat with a small smile. "Old friends of his. Even older friends of mine." He ran his fingers through his hair. "You'll meet them soon enough."

"Okay, if you say so" Karkat replied skeptically, opening his wallet to dig out some money for the sandwich that had just been put out for him.

He looked over to Tavros with a knowing smile. "So is John with anyone outside of bring Vriska's moirail? Cause if it's with a dude, he'll probably be too scared to tell me."

"Uh, I don't know. Gamzee and I always figured he was holding out for his friendleader, because he couldn't stop talking about him. But, um, I guess not anymore" Tavros replied. "But he was, uhhh, what was the term... Sweet on Rose until Kanaya became her matesprit"

"And it took a while for Kanaya to finally get her elegant hooks into Rose. He had time and he let her slip by." He said with a chuckle, giving a nod to the man behind the counter when his burger was handed to him. Then he paused. "...Friendleader?" He asked.

"Mmmhnmmm" Tavros hummed, his eyes shooting over to Karkat then to his bag as he tugged it into his lap to dig out his wallet.

Karkat slipped the man money enough for both his and Dave's food while Dave was distracted.

He gave a small nod as he made the connection, looking forward to pay, only for the man to hbe handing Karkat the receipt. He looked over at him and rose a brow. "Really? You're going to make this a back and forth thing, I can tell already."

"Not my fault you weren't paying attention" Karkat mumbled, stepping out of the way for Tavros. "Besides, if I pay for dinner today and lunch tomorrow, you can buy us both week passes to the theater and we'll be even."

Tavros rolled into Karkat's place to get his burger and give the man his money. "So, um, are you staying on campus over the weekend?"

"Fine fine, deal." He said with a playful roll of the eyes. He looked over at Tavros and shook his head. "Nah I gotta go see Bro about some equipment. Then I'm going over to Karkat's place to work on our project."

At the word bucket, every troll within hearing distance, immediately flushed their blood color and glared at Dave.

Karkat growled low in his throat until they all looked away again.

Dave raised a brow then took a mental note: the word bucket is taboo around trolls that aren't your kismesis or matesprit. Got it locked away. He then waited for Tavros to get his food and pay before he would go to find a seat.

Tavros got his receipt and moved back so others could get food. "Okay, let's go sit." he grinned.

Karkat scoped out the area before leading the group to a table in the corner where Sollux sat hunched over his own food.

Dave couldn't help but snort and give a chuckle of his own. "I'm working at his pace here. Especially since I'm in slightly unfamiliar territory as far as relationships of a different species."
