Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave was still eating when they started drawing blades on each other and he calmly finished chewing what he had in his mouth before wordlessly standing up and taking his as well as their boxes into the kitchen with him. He tossed Bro's emptied box and refrigerated Karkat's even though it wasn't likely to ever be eaten a second time. Chinese food was rarely ever any good the second time around anyway. One of the reasons he wasn't staying in the living room to watch them duke it out was that it was a decent enough excuse to get away from Karkat and have some space to breath and collect himself.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
The strife was quick, efficient. Karkat would have likely won, since he drew his second sickle and easily had Bro 'out gunned' had Bro not played dirty and somehow had managed to get his hand on Karkat's good horn, causeing the troll to Drop like a rock. "Oh Fuck, Dave, I think I fucked him up"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave had been eating the rest of his Chinese food in the kitchen when he heard the thud of a body hit the floor. "Aw, shit, Bro- what'd you do?" He tossed the box away in the garbage and stepped back into the living room, surveying the scene. Spotting Karkat on the floor, he quickly sat on his knees beside him, rolling the troll onto his back and looking up at Bro. "You didn't touch one of his horns, did you?"
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Fuck, um, yes? I was just trying to get a hold of his head to try and hamper his movements. Why's it matter if it was his horn?" Bro asked, putting his sword back into his sylladex and getting to his knees nest to Dave.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"They go into this trance when you touch their horns. It's like this dead possum instinct-- it's pretty fucking useless really." Dave lifted the troll's head and examined his horns to make sure that neither of them were damaged during the fall. "Looks like you're in the clear. If one of these had cracked, then you'd be fucked." He scooted over so that his arms were under the troll's back, nodding towards Bro, "Help me get him to the couch."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Bro carefully slipped his arms under Karkat and lifted him up. "Where'd you learn this shit?" he asked out of curiosity.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"John mentioned it," Dave stated plainly, steering them towards the futon. He would never admit that he had asked for advice from Eggbutt. That was just cool person suicide. "When I was getting out his infection, I had him under like this. Made things move a Hell of a lot smoother."
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Huh, so those things aren't just for show then? They're not like animal horns?" Bro asked, laying Karkat down on the futon and starting at the bandage so he could check the wound.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"Apparently," Dave shrugged, trying not to show his unease over talking about Karkat's horns. "Don't touch them for too long though." He added for ironic, pun-tascular effect just to make it sound like he was kidding, "Makes them horny." Oh Gog, how he wished that was a joke.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"good pun." Bro replied. He got the bandage off an checked his horn . "You did much better this time." he stated.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Damn right he did. "Yeah, it wasn't that bad." It was worse, so much worse. Dave took a seat in front of Karkat's legs and continued watching TV, acting like he wasn't completely uncomfortable about ever being near anything below Karkat's hips. His eye twitched involuntarily behind his shades and he had never been so thankful to wear sunglasses indoors.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat laid on the couch, blinkning sluggishly for a little over an hour, in which time Bro discovered a scratch on the underside of his jaw that was bleeding a little, which led Bro to teasing that Karkat was better at Strifing than Dave was before he had to leave.
When Karkat finally sat up, he glanced around lethargically before letting out a questioning chirp.

Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave had actually raised both of his eyebrows when he noticed the scratch on Bro's jaw earlier. His own fights with his older brother would take ages before he could so much as get something even resembling a scratch in and that would cue Bro to go into turbo mode and the fight would be over in a matter of moments. So seeing that scratch on Bro, no matter how tiny, was a really fucking colossal deal.
When Karkat chirped at him, Dave looked over at the troll with some respect in his gaze, presuming that the chirp was about where Bro went. "Bro took off to go do... whatever the fuck he wants, I don't know," he said, continuing, "He didn't know about the-" Stay calm. Remain totally chill. "-the horn thing. I'm sure he'll be sending you his humblest of apologies in the form of a perfume scented pink note graced with flowery penmanship when he gets back."

Karkat snorted and moved to sit, curled up in Dave's blanket, in the corner of the futon. He chirped halfheartedly, turning his slightly glazed eyes toward the television set. He was disappointed that Bro got the best of him, but his horn was at least starting to feel better.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
"You um...you want something to drink?" Dave couldn't believe that he was actually hesitating in such an un-Strider like fashion to ask a simple question. "Because you lost a lot of blood in the bathroom and I've got some soda stowed away in my closet if you're thirsty." He doubted that the troll would accept his offer since he had offered him drugged milk just a few hours ago, but he figured it couldn't hurt to try. Offering his secret stash was sort of his way of handing the troll a gold medal for standing up to his brother.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat looked at Dave for a long moment before closing his eyes and shaking his head slowly. He wasn't a big fan of soda anyway. He motioned a glass and what he hoped Dave would understand as water.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave recognized the water sign from before, but had assumed it had meant shower or bathroom to some extent since that's what Karkat had been trying to tell him last time, but the cup sign was pretty straight forward. So. Shower + Cup = ?. He had just offered him something to drink. Two and two were put together and Dave understood what he meant, not having to take long to get things straight. "Want me to get you some water?" He asked anyway, just to double check that he understood him correctly.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat nodded, pulling the blanket tighter around himself. He was unsure how to convey a 'please' though.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
It was pretty sweet that the troll was trusting Dave again with beverages and he hoped they wouldn't have a repeat with the glass of milk. Well, at least water wouldn't be as much trouble to clean up. He left the futon and returned momentarily with a glass of water and held it over to where Karkat was sitting.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat took the water and stared at it a moment, before looking up at Dave and motioning with his free hand for Dave to step closer. He did know how to convey thanks.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Now Dave was the one who was suspicious about the glass of water in Karkat's hand. He stepped closer to the seated troll until he was standing right beside him, eyeing the glass. "What?" He might have started developing some respect for Karkat, but that didn't mean he completely trusted that Karkat wouldn't splash him as soon as he got close.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat set the glass on the coffee table and wrapped his arms around Dave's middle, giving a quick hug. When he let him go, he picked up his glass again and drank slowly.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
A rising heat formed in Dave's chest when the troll hugged him and his lips twitched upwards in a fraction of a smile, his own wordless statement of 'you're welcome' present in this action. He took a seat beside Karkat, deciding that staying so far away from him on the futon would be something like an insult, even if he felt weird being near the troll when it wasn't entirely necessary.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Karkat gave a small chirp, turning his gaze back to the TV. He wondered if he would be able to convince Dave to watch a romcom with him, or let him watch one.
Re: Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)
Dave took his shoes off and propped his feet on the coffee table, leaning back in his seat with his hands behind his head. He looked relaxed, but the gears in his mind's eye were still wound tight on the memory of what happened in the bathroom. Just had to dislodge the visual obstruction in his brain was all. Address the problem. Problem? What problem? It was more like a distraction really, not a problem. Ok, so maybe it was more than just a distraction as he caught himself studying Karkat's groin from the the corner of his eye. It had only happened a few hours ago. Of course it was still fresh on his mind.
He wasn't even thinking about it in the ironic sense. There was nothing ironic about wanting to examine the thing in Karkat's pants that trolls called a bonebulge. Bonebulge his ass. Bulges made him think of something like a lump or a speed bump. That wasn't a bulge, that was a fucking tentacle. It was like a tentacle hentai was playing out in his head each time it popped back in there. Fucking Christ in Heaven.
