Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
The next morning started like any other; Robert was up at seven, he showered with his birds and dressed. He retrieved his morning paper from the end of the driveway, and he made breakfast. He checked his watch before heading upstairs and rapping lightly at the door to Tavros's room to wake him.
"Tavros, Breakfast is ready"
"Tavros, Breakfast is ready"
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Tavros was awoken by the sound of his alarm clock shrilling at exactly six in the morning, signaling that he needed to get ready for work. He climbed out of bed and into his wheelchair then headed over to the closet with the lowered bar holding clothes hangers Mr. E had installed so that it would be more convenient for the prior troll's limitation of reach.
After changing, he was just pulling his sandals on when he heard the knocking and the promise of breakfast and he called back tentatively, "O-okay, be out in a second."

"Would you like help down the stairs?" Robert asked politely. "I wouldn't mind if you don't want to strain yourself"
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Tavros wheeled over to the door and opened it slowly, careful to mind the other person in front of it so that he didn't hit him by accident. "That'd be really, uh, nice of you. If you, y-you know, want to." That would have been great actually, as getting up the stairs wasn't so hard since he had the back of the wheel chair to keep himself in place; it was going back down that proved to be quite a challenge. On several occasions, he almost slid out of the chair in the middle of his descent to the first floor, terrifying him out of his wits as it brought bad memories to mind.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"I would love to." Robert smiled "Would you mind terribly if I took you down backwards? You may not be afraid of falling out of your seat, but I would be positively horrified if you did while I was helping you" He carefully took the handles and started towards the stairs.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"I, uh, guess that'd be okay?" Tavros stated in the form of a nervous question, not entirely sure if he really was okay with that. Well, Mr. Egbert was a nice person; someone very unlikely of finding good sport in tossing him down the stairs like a certain, arachnid-fixated girl might. Mr. Egbert would never do something like that... right? Nevertheless, he couldn't help but squirm around a bit in his seat as they approached the stairs, gnawing on his bottom lip as he began to have second thoughts about this.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Robert stopped a little from the stairs and frowned. "Actually, I'm not sure I feel comfortable doing that. Would you be offended if I carried you down?" He asked, looking down at Tavros with a warm smile.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Tavros scratched the back of his ear in thought before tilting his head to look up at the older human, shrinking into his seat when he saw that the other was looking right back at him. "If you prefer, that, I don't see wh-why not," he replied, his eyes darting away as he rose his elbows up a bit so that Mr. Egbert could pull him out of the chair more easily.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Robert pulled Tavros's chair farther away from the stairs and moved around to the front. He crouched down with a smile. "Hang on to my neck" he requested, slipping one hand around Tavros's back and the other under his legs. "Then I can wheel your chair while I carry you"
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Tavros nodded and reached up, hooking one arm over Mr. Egbert's shoulder while his other arm craned around his neck, both hands linking to each arm in a firm grip. It was at that moment that his chest was pressing rather heavily against the other man's that he became aware of just how warm he was. That was silly. Of course he was warm! Why wouldn't he be? Then he was noting the scent of his cologne, appreciating how there wasn't too much for it to be overpowering and making his eyes water. Wait. Why was he sniffing him? That was weird; he should stop, like, right now. Would he think it was weird if he told him he smelled nice? Yeah, probably. He bet Mr. Egbert would never offer to carry him downstairs again if he told him something like that.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Robert stood, lifting Tavros with him and shifting him slightly so that he could support his body and legs against his chest with one arm, freeing the other to push the wheelchair. He walked back around to the back of it and guided it to the stairs, pushing it down the ramps at the side while carrying Tavros at the same time.
When the reached the bottom, Robert was careful about setting Tavros back in his chair, before pushing the chair gently into the kitchen. "I made some oatmeal today, with a side of hash browns, doesn't that sound wonderful?" he asked with a smile as he pushed Tavros up to the table.

Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"Oh, wow, y-you didn't have to make me anything," Tavros muttered, looking up at Mr. Egbert as he was wheeled to an empty space at the table. He was flattered that anyone would be nice enough to make him breakfast without him even asking, not that he ever would have the courage to ask someone to make him breakfast in the first place.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"I know, But I enjoy cooking for people. Why do you think I bake all the time?" Robert smiled, sitting at his own seat. "I like making people happy"
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Tavros beamed at him from across the table, sticking his spoon into the oatmeal and blowing the steam off when he brought the utensil under his mouth before eating its contents. Once he popped the spoon back out, he quietly stuck it back in the bowl and placed his hands on his wheels, looking over towards the kitchen cabinets as he asked, "Do you have any, uh, peanut butter?"
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Robert grimaced slightly. "I'm afraid not. John has a severe peanut allergy so we couldn't have any in the house, so I was never in the habit of buying any. I suppose I can pick some up for you though, if you'd like"
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"Oh, uh, that's okay..." Tavros smiled, pondering for a moment before asking, "What about brown sugar?" He figured that such a baking enthusiast would at least have to have some of that laying around the house, right?
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"Actually, That I do have" Robert smiled, getting up and crossing the room to the jars on the counter by the stove. "Anything else?" he asked sweetly.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Tavros shook his head, cutting into his hash browns with a fork as he replied, "That's all I really wanted, so, uh, thanks but no thanks."
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Robert smiled as he brought the jar over to the table. "I believe I have some honey, if you'd like it" he offered
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Tavros finished chewing the bite of hash browns he had been working on, gulping them down before answering, "Sure, tha-that'd be perfect." The reason he was so insistent on having something sugary to go with his oatmeal was because having it plain made it a million times harder for him to consume it.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Robert set the jar on the table and retrieved the bear-shaped honey bottle from the cabinet before setting it alongside the bowl of oatmeal. "Anything else? Juice, coffee, milk?" Robert asked with an accommodating smile.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"Juice please," Tavros chimed, opening the jar of brown sugar and carefully tipping it to the side over his oatmeal. He would use his spoon and just scoop it out, but he didn't want to get his germs all over the place.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
Robert fetched him a juice box before returning to his seat and starting on his own breakfast, complete with a cup of coffee. "Do you need me to take you to work today?" he asked
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"Um, if it isn't too far out of the way from where you work," Tavros replied timidly, popping open the cap of honey and pouring it into the oatmeal. He would usually just take a bus that would bring him about a block from work, which he didn't mind wheeling the rest of the way from there since he wheeled around just about everywhere pretty much.
Re: You Set My Heart Aflutter (Dad/Tavros)
"I don't mind. If you need a ride to work, I can take you. I don't have to be in until ten today" Robert replied happily. "Its really no trouble at all. And I get off at five if you need a ride home as well, I don't have any errands to run"
