Jade was humming as she left the house and crossed the street.

Upstairs, Jake was on his bed. He was laying on his back and Cat was resting on his chest.

Josh knocked on the door. "Jacob?" he asked.

John ran outside in just his shorts, wet with cake chunks in his hair. "No fair!" he yelled.

Robert appeared in the doorway with a smirk on his face, not a single wrinkle in his shirt and tie, armed with a plate of cake in one hand and a bucket in the other.

Jade laughed as she approahed them. "Oh." She looked down at the pig in her arms. "I forgot to put you down."

Dave raised a brow and looked to Tavros. "Should I ask?"

Tavros looked up. "Hm? Oh that's John and his Dad. They're probably starting another prank war. Nobody can beat Mr. Egbert at jokes and pranks, he's like, the king or something"

"Did you need something dear?" Robert asked, faking a throw of the plate, only to actually throw it a minute later and hit John right in the face when he moved to dodge.

John fell back onto the grass and wisely decided to stay down.

Jade was laughing when she reached the yard. "Yes, Gramps sent me over. He found out today our new neighbors are Jeff Strider and his family. They are going to be over tonight and he wanted to know if you could make dinner."

Dave looked back across the street. "John Egbert?"

Robert's face seemed to light up. "Jeff? Well of course I'll cook!" he replied

"Yeah" Tavros replied, blinking at Dave curiously.

Jade shifted Gala in her arms. "Wonderful! I'll tell him you said yes."

Dave stood up. "I'll be back in a minute." He started making his way across the street.

"John, come in and get cleaned up, don't just lie there like a wet blanket" Robert called to him, causing John to get up and trudge into the house with a groan. "Hold on a moment dear, do you know what Josh wants me to make?"

Jade was shaking her head as Dave appeared at her side. "He didn't say anything about what to make."

"Did John go inside?"

"This is Dave, Jeff's youngest brother. He's John's best friend."

Jade turned to smile at Dave. "We're having dinner with the whole family tonight. You'll get to see him."

Dave shifted closer to Jade, nodding to Robert but keeping his hands at his sides.

Robert smiled warmly and lowered his hand, only to crouch slightly so he was more on Dave's level. "Shy?" he asked gently
