Dave stopped at the door, glancing back at his brother before ringing the doorbell.

Bro stepped up to stand next to him. "How big do you think Rose is?" he asked

The door opened to reveal Ms. Lalonde, surprisingly enough, without a drink in her hand. She clapped her hands excitedly and grabbed Dave, pulling him up into a tight, uncomfortable hug. "Oooohooohoo, you're early!" She giggled in delight, hopping up and down in her heels while Dave was in her grasp.

Dave tried to keep it cool as his shades were knocked askew across his face, though he was struggling to breath with his mouth and nostrils pressed against Ms. Lalonde's dress suit.

"Mom. Stop that." Rose's voice came from inside the house before she came into view at the doorway, a hand resting on her taught stomach. She turned to face Bro, holding the door open. "Won't you come in?"

"Don't mind if I do" Bro smirked, stepping around Ms Lalonde and Dave. "How's it hanging Rosie?"

"Oh, it's hanging. From the chandelier... by which I mean the baby beanies I was knitting moments ago." She gave an irritated sigh. "Do you need help with your things?"

Ms. Lalonde showed Dave some mercy and finally let go of him, only to lead him inside so that she could shoo her daughter away. "My precious child is not to lift a pinky when she is already carrying around my grand baby." She leaned down to press her face against Rose's stomach, rubbing her belly like it was a cauldron full of gold as she spoke baby talk into it. "Idn't dat w'ight mah w'il gran chillun?"

Rose's lips pursed. "Please don't refer to it like that. You know I hate it when you do."

Rose managed to wrestle her mother off her belly to answer Bro. "Just about everywhere. The dining room, the yard, the lab..."

Dave adjusted his shades. "Rose..."

She inspected her nails. "I'll tell you where they are after you give me a hug."

He opened his arms.

She opened her arms.

They stood off for a moment before Dave finally gave in and stepped over to Rose to hug her. Rose smiled smugly over Dave's shoulder as she held him. "Karkat and Tavros are upstairs, third door on the right." She gripped Dave harder before he could take off. "Do be careful with him."

"Yes, all save for the crab, the bull, the cat, the horsey, and that vampire that goes around knocking up people's daughters," Ms. Lalonde replied.

"Her name is Kanaya and she is going to make a fantastic parent," Rose muttered.

Ms. Lalonde huffed. "If she doesn't eat the child, first."

Dave was already running up the stairs before he could hear their argument continue further.

"Why, I would never." Rose shoved Bro, but she was smiling as she did.

Dave hurried up the steps and over to the bedroom Rose had told him, tapping his knuckles against the wood.

Karkat stirred gently in the nest on the bed, but didn't wake.

Bro laughed. "Sure you wouldn't Rosie"

"Have you had anything to eat, deary?" Ms. Lalonde asked, ignoring the notion that her daughter would really go that far just to spite her.

Tavros got up from the computer and answered the door, his eyes lighting up when he saw Dave. "H-holy shit- holy shit, Dave?"

"In the flesh." Dave braced himself as he endured yet another painful hug.

Karkat stirred again at the noise

"Yes you," Ms. Lalonde answered. "I know Rose has eaten today."

"Only because you've been supervising every meal I've had in the last few months," Rose grumbled.

Dave wrapped his arms around Tavros, giving him a squeeze. "Tav, not that I'm not happy to see you too, but do you know where Karkat is?"

Tavros let go and pointed over towards the nest on the bed behind him. "He's over there. Is Bro here?"

"Downstairs."

Tavros hurried over to the bed to check on Karkat one more time before rushing out of the room, though he was careful to watch his step and keep hold of the banister once he reached the stairs.

Bro laughed. "Nah, I haven't. Me and Dave had been planning on getting a pizza or some shit once we got here" he admitted

Karkat shifted and stretched in his sleep

Dave stepped over to the edge of the bed, taking a seat beside Karkat. He leaned over, brushing Karkat's bangs out of his eyes.

"Bro?" Tavros called from the stairway, gingerly making his way down.

Dave smiled as he watched Karkat sleep, sliding down next to him on the bed to spoon him.

"BRO!" Tavros yelped, hurrying down the stairs and over to Bro, arms open wide.

Tavros smothered Bro in kisses as he wrapped his arms around his neck. "I missed you so much, I was so worried, I thought you weren't going to make it before the wrigglers came."
