Dirk waited by his door impatiently. Movie night had been underway for almost two entire movies now, and he was still waiting for his chance to talk to John without Dave around. The way Dave drank apple juice should have meant Dave would have had to use the bathroom ages ago, and would have had to make more than one trip.

Dirk's leg bounced anxiously. He wasn't entirely sure this was a good idea still, but he needed to go for it.

Dave and John had taken over the living room not long after Jeff had gone to work. All of the their snacks and drinks were on the coffee table. Currently the boys were curled up together, John in Dave's lap. The One was what John had puton for the third movie.

John yawned as he was moved from the blonde's lap. "Gotta piss bro, brb." The younger boy nodded as he went to the bathroom.

Dirk quietly opened the door to his room and stepped out. His heart was beating wildly in what seemed to be an attempt to escape from his chest, but he forced himself to breath deeply and take slow calm steps. He walked out to the living room and paused by the futon. He raised a brow, playing it off like he had been on his way to the kitchen. "The one?" he asked "I thought you and Dave generally watched dumb movies"

John huffed at him. "We like the movies we watch. And The One is our favorite movie." He wrapped a blanket around himself before turning his attention back to the tv. Dirk always seemed to get chatty around him. For some reason it was only him. Dave really neededto hurry up.

"I usually pick all the movies we watch anyway."

"I know. Your taste in movie's is nearly as bad as Jake's" Dirk replied. He stepped around the futon so he could stand by John. "But I didn't know you liked action movies, just the comedies you normally bring over.

John rolled his eyes. Dirk always insulted him at least once whenever he was at the Strider's place. "Way to be a fucking douche nugget dude. I happen to likemy taste in movies. I watch a wide variety. You can stop pretending you know anything about me."

Dirk shrugged, internally he was berating himself for offending John. "Like I said, your taste in movies is still better than Jake's. Your taste in movies I can get used to. As far as Jake goes, if its a movie, its a 'bloody masterpiece'." he quoted, even using dorky finger quotes in the hopes of drawing a smile out of John.

John glared at him. "For being your best friend, you talk pretty shittiyly about Jake." He snorted loudly. "And I don't think Dave will aprreciated you shit talking his boyfriend."

This was not going well. Dirk sighed, turning his head away. "Jake hasn't been my best friend since he dumped me." he stated. "we're still friends, yeah, but our friendship is pretty rocky. I haven't said anything to you that I wouldn't have said to his face." Dirk turned to look at him again. "I had originally come out here to tell you that I liked you, and ask you on a date, but I'm pretty sure I can tell you don't even like me as a person, so I'll just go back to being a shut in." he stated, turning and heading back towards his room.

It had been a bad idea to begin with. Jake had been a mistake, if he dated John it would have just been another.

John shrugged at him. "Whatever. You hardly ever talk to me. Why date me?"

Dirk paused in the doorway and looked back at John. "Because I like you. I've always liked you" he stated before going to his room and closing the door behind him.

Dave returned from the bathroom a minute later. He sat down then pulled John bac into his lap. "Thought I heard Dirk out here. He didn't cause any trouble, did he?"

The younger boy shook his head. "No. Just commentedon the movie." Dave didn't need to know about what his twin said. John was already planning on talking to Jake the next day. His older cousin always knew how to deal wth Dirk.

Dirk didn't even bother trying to find something to do, he climbed into bed and curled around Cal, whom he had brought into his room the very minute Jeff left for work

John sighed as he shift on his feet, knocking on the door of his cousin's house. He had texted Jake before going over and the older boy had eagerly told him now was a great time.

Jake opened the door with a grin. "Good to see you John! What can I do for you today?"

"I need to talk to you about Dirk."

Jake's expression dropped slightly. "What about him?" he asked carefully.

John shifted againand sighed. "Can we go inside?"

Jake stepped to the side and held the door open wider to allow John entrance.

John quickly stepped inside. "Should we go to your room?"

"If you really want. Grandpa isn't home, and I'm not sure where Jade is" Jake shrugged

John nodded. "Your room. Please."

Jake nodded before leading the way up to his room. He sat on the bed and looked to John. "Now, what about Dirk?"

"He...ased me to go on a date with him."

"What did you tell him?" Jake asked
