Roxy yawned and stretched, looking around as she sat up. Dirk had banned her from being on or near the couch for a week. But he wasn't here right now so she could do whatever she wanted. Her little black ears twitched slightly as she yawned again and stood up. How could Dirk blame his little kitten? Roxy had an urge to scratch. Okay, so maybe she could use one of the numerous scratching post he owner bought for her. But the leather of the couch ripping under her claws felt so much better. Besides all she needed to do was bat her eyelashes, pout, make some little mewing sounds, and Dirk forgot he was even mad.

The clock on the dvd player said it was a quarter past four. Dirk and Jake were supposed to be back from their walk soon. Hopefully she could sneak a quick snack before they returned.

Dirk kept a firm hold on Jake's leash as he fished his keys from his pocket. Not that he needed to lock the door with Roxy home. Their walk in the park had done its job and burned Jake's excess energy, but for how long wasn't clear. He needed to get dinner started or picked out as soon as possible, otherwise Jake would be into everything when he tried to finally get it done.
